Do What You Can

Our daily lives have changed drastically. The things we used to do without much thought, now require a second thought. Spontaneity has vanished. We can’t just meet at friend at the coffee shop.

As we try our best to navigate this new normal where we find ourselves, we continually hear a lot in the news about what we can’t and shouldn’t do. And there’s so much we can’t do that we used to do! But we cannot let this negatively impact our lives, or allow it to consume our minds.

Instead of focusing on what you can’t do, focus on what you can do. This just may be the perfect time to pursue those tucked away, forgotten about dreams that you have had for years.

I know that I have a list of list of “If I had more time I would…” I have bought a few things in the past because I was excited to give it a try: hobbies, interests, etc. And some of those things still sit there. Untouched. It can be challenging to fit something new into our lives.

We have the choice to do what we can. Take advantage of this time to pursue something new, or dust off something old. For me, one of those things is a yoga mat I bought about a year and a half ago. I used it for one week right after I bought it, and it’s sat unused since. I pulled out that yoga mat a couple of weeks ago and used it. I have made a point to schedule time for yoga as I have worked to establish a new routine.

Identify the things that you do not usually have time for and make a plan. The new things you begin now have the potential to continue once normal life resumes. Fill up that extra time when you would go to the mall with uplifting activities that positively impact your life and the lives of the people closest to you.

Blessings to you and yours. ~ Beth
